Arriving to the Saharan town of Zagora where the remains of an Almoravid fortress can still be seen. Night and dinner at our Hotel.
After breakfast, you will head south and pass by Tamagrout 18 km away. In this small town, you will visit one of the oldest libraries of the kingdom (Zaouia Nasiryaa). Driving along Draa valley to M’hamid, that is a very modest village and not much different than former of Tagounit that you have passed before arriving here. From a vast plateau you will get impressed by the huge sand dunes of Chegaga appearing from the horizon, where you go for a camel ride to meet one of the most fascinating sand dunes sights you will ever see, the superb sunset in the middle of the high sand dune. Tonight, you stay in Berber camp and enjoy wonderful stars view.
From Erg Chegaga, you drive along sand dunes on a peaceful and fascinating wilderness, some passing by the natural dried lake of Iriki. 30 years ago this lake was full of water and different kinds of birds. After a long way driving on an off-road, you get into the paved road and pass the small town of Foum-Zguid, which is a noiseless and a sleepy Berber town. You stop in Taznakht, it was a former trading post for this large region. This little Berber village is one of the biggest centers of carpets in the kingdom. From there, you continue for almost 90 Km, along quite oases and plenty of Berber villages; to get to the junction in between Marrakech and Ouarzazate. You cross the High Atlas Mountains again to return to Marrakech.
